Practical Tooth Replacement Options for a Confident Smile
If you’re missing multiple teeth or exploring long-term solutions for tooth loss, dentures can play an important role in restoring your ability to speak, eat, and smile with comfort and confidence. At Washington Park Dental Center, we provide select denture options and are happy to guide you through the different types available so you can make an informed decision about your care.
Whether you’re just starting to explore your options or ready to move forward with treatment, we’ll take the time to explain what’s available and help you find the best fit based on your needs and goals.
Understanding the Types of Dentures
There are several types of dentures available today, each designed to meet different functional and cosmetic needs. While not all of these options are offered in our office, we believe it’s important for our patients to understand the full range of treatments available.
Full Dentures (Complete Dentures)
Full dentures are used when all of the teeth in the upper or lower arch are missing. These removable appliances rest on the gums and are custom-designed to match the natural look of your smile.
- Conventional full dentures are placed after the gums have healed following tooth removal.
- Immediate dentures are placed the same day teeth are extracted, though they may require adjustments as healing occurs.
Partial Dentures
Partial dentures are ideal for patients who still have some healthy natural teeth. These removable appliances fill in gaps and help prevent remaining teeth from shifting. They are supported by a base and clasps or precision attachments.
Implant-Supported Dentures
While we do not place dental implants in-office, we often collaborate with local specialists for patients interested in implant-supported solutions like:
- Snap-On Dentures (Overdentures): These attach to implants but can still be removed for cleaning.
- Full Arch Fixed Dentures (All-on-4/6): Permanently attached to dental implants, these provide the most secure and natural-feeling option but require a referral to a specialist for surgery and placement.
What We Offer at Wash Park Family Dental:
In our office, Dr. Kyger offers traditional full and partial dentures, along with denture adjustments and consultations. For patients interested in implant-supported options or full arch solutions, we’re happy to coordinate care and refer you to a trusted local specialist.
